FINAL TOUCH UPS

Finally, this page will be showing the last few changes I have for the building.

PLANT SHOP

After designing the overall layout of the building, I felt that the one area that I was not satisfied was the garden area of the building, especially the one space that I felt unnecessary in the area was the storage space for the gardening area. I decided to change the space into a plant shop and move the garden tools and storage to the the existing green house. Now, the back part of the site would be a street filled with shops, creating another connection to the existing site.

DINING ORGANIZATION

Lastly, the area that I felt like it needed more proper organization was the bar and private dining area. Besides that, the overall space seemed very wide and spacious as in not breather point. Therefore, I felt like adding partitions to give some clarification to the different spaces in it. The partitions would also be used as shelves to showcase artworks from the pottery works since there is lacking in the exhibition of plates and cups made by the locals. This would make the space more visually interesting, instead of a long and spacious dining space.

BAR

PREVIOUS DESIGN

CURRENT DESIGN

Currently, the bar area seemed a little boring and a also a little bit too big. I felt like decreasing the size a little and add additional seating lounge area to the space to make the bar more exciting.

The yellow shows the shrinkage of the bar, the blue sections are the additional seating provided in the space. The sections have smaller table which are catered more from drinking and have conversations instead of eating.

PRIVATE DINING

Further improvement to the private seating area too where the seat changed into sofa settings and there are slightly more public instead of having them close completely by doors.

The blue area are the improved version of the seating areas. The yellow walls are the partitions to create more privacy but still connected the public dining area and it also allow to showcase pottery and artworks on it.

RE-UNDERSTANDING THE ROOF

After I started designing the detail of the roof, I realized there was a problem with the structure of it. The roof that I am referring to are the ones with overhangs which occurs on those buildings along the street path. Although it is not impossible to make the form, but I believe it was unnecessary to go through additional construction and cost of making that kind of roof due to them not being able to be seen by the public when they walk thought the building. In the end,  these could be achieved easily by the covered walkways and this gives a clearer relationship with the separation of the buildings with the walkways being more obvious.

INITIAL TEST

Initially, the roof structure (orange) was not supported properly due to the frame. Therefore I decided to raise the frames up to meet the angle of the roof.

LIFTING THE FRAME

After I lifted up the frame to meet the roof, I noticed the point of the frame connections are not in line. the four walls would have different height which does not fit the consistency look of the 2.8m walkways.

THE FRAME

After increasing the height of the column (yellow) to meet the angle of the roof, I realized the orange frame has to increase to meet the frame too, which means this would create a 3.5m height for the wall. The problem with this was that it doesn't fit with the overall 2.8m walkways.
