BIG MODEL
Through this model making, I get to explore and test the lighting design on the basement as well as the allotment and street stall experience on the ground.

Garden allotments
The garden is located beside the Kingsway road where is it exposed to the most sunlight due to no shade. In that space. people can sit beside the plants and relax with their friends and family. The allotment is also located beside the vegetable stalls. To allow easy transportation to the stalls.

Vegetable and fruits stalls
One aspect about the stall is that the windows could be open completely to sell the fruits and vegetables during the summer. The tables could be pulled out more to allow more food to be sold, similar to selling in the streets.

Main courtyard
The main courtyard allows light to enter the underground dining space. Plants, herbs, vegetables and trees could be planted too to allow cooks to grow their food below as well..

Mini courtyards
Smaller opening are created to allow more light to enter the basements. This allows some plants to grow in these spaces as well.

Side lighting
Courtyard are not enough to shine the spaces below. Therefore, corner single strip lighting is also needed to bring in more light into the space. There might also be plants growing on the walls as well.
REFLECTION

Lighting strategy
After making this model, I realized the corner straight light path into the underground restaurant may be a little too boring in the dining space. I believe I should play with having randomly placed roof openings to create more dynamic lighting in the space.

Access area
Also, the model making allowed me to realize the access area in the building. I noticed the back part of the site have very few access, only to the kitchen space. Therefore, I plan to locate the 2 accesses at each side of the space, where one is at the art space, and the other is at the garden area.
Allotments spaces
In addition, the use of this model making made me realize how flat the outdoor garden allotment is. I hope to bring in some vertical frames into the space, so that plants can grow on it too. This not only creates more planting areas but it looks more aesthetic too. Also, the allotments could be expanded to other open areas as well, making the space more village like.

Rearranging spaces
Finally, I realized the location of the garden workshop is placed quite far away from the rest. Hence, I feel like switching the vegetable shop and the garden workshop. This is to allow the people to get access to all the food making workshops in one area.
